A LIMITED LAW PRACTICE DEFINED BY PERSONAL ATTENTION TO CLIENT AND CAUSE

ADVOCACY WITH CONVICTION

SELECT CASES

Our office currently only accepts a limited range of new private cases and only in the areas of wrongful death, serious injury, or major property damage.  The majority of our cases are by referral. Most are collaborations with other attorneys. Almost all cases are cases expected to go to a full jury trial.

PRO BONO

We maintain a small but consistent caseload of pro bono and state appointed clients. The majority of these cases involve representation of minors or disabled persons. As part of our continued training and research in the area of witness preparation, we also regularly accept involuntary commitment cases for mental health institutions.

TEACHING

In addition to lecturing, research, and writing on topics relating to advocacy, Andrew Caple-Shaw has a full trial consulting practice that operates independently of The Law Office.  The firm's services include case consulting, witness preparation, and attorney skills training.  For more information, visit TheeAdvocate.com

ABOUT US

The vast majority of Andrew Caple-Shaw's time is spent outside of his practice, working as a trial consultant and courtroom skills instructor for other lawyers, associations of lawyers, and firms.  He also writes and researches on topics related to legal communication and winning at trial.

Due to the demands of the consulting practice, the Law Office of Andrew Caple-Shaw was downsized substantially in 2017 and focused almost exclusively on large personal injury, wrongful death, and property damage cases in the State of Tennessee.  Most cases are by referral, but walk-ins are welcome.

Any other remaining cases we still accept fall into one of four categories: 1) Collaboration cases with attorneys who either need trial counsel or a 2nd chair. 2) Mental Health cases, either pro-bono or on behalf of the State of Tennessee, which help cultivate witness preparation and listening skills. 3) Small matters for pre-existing long-term clients.  4) Pro bono cases that require special advocacy skills, the vast majority of which involve children, disabled persons, or victims of injustice.
